GATHERING
Prelude: I Need Thee Every Hour | Vogt/Lowry
Welcome
Call to Worship
Votum
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Amen
Opening Sentences
In the waning light of the evening,
we gather to keep watch.
In this space and in our hearts,
we gather to retell this story.
In our bread and in our cup,
we remember the love of our Redeemer.
Salutation
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
Amen.
*Hymn of Praise: Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love
Remembrance of Baptism
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
O Lord our God, we give you thanks
for the mercy you so freely offer us
through the grace of our baptism—
safe passage through the sea,
justice rolling down like water,
deliverance from sin and death forever.
By the power of your Holy Spirit,
poured out upon us in baptism,
teach us to love and serve you faithfully
and reconcile us to you and to one another
as members of one, living body;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
On this night as we recall Christ’s betrayal,
we remember this:
Christ broke bread with the one who would betray him.
Christ washed the feet of Judas,
that he may have a share in him.
Knowing how deep our Savior’s forgiveness runs,
let us bring our sins to God.
”He knew who was to betray him” Judas, of course,
But
In another sense -
Practically everybody!
Judas, by "selling out,” Leading the arrest party;
Peter, by his denial, Not once, but three times;
The others who fled, Afraid for their own liberty
Even their own lives -
And,
Also
Me.
My betrayal is not as flamboyant as that of Judas
Or even that of Peter.
Mine's more quiet, More like the other disciples;
The decisions not made;
The stands not taken;
The witness not offered;
The sacrifice not made
To the one who sacrificed himself for me.
Lord, forgive me for not standing by you
For yielding to my fears,
And grant me the courage to stand firm
Through this long,
Dark
The stands not taken;
The witness not offered;
The sacrifice not made
To the one who sacrificed himself for me.
Lord, forgive me for not standing by you
For yielding to my fears,
And grant me the courage to stand firm
Through this long,
Dark
Night
And through all the days to come,
For Jesus' sake,
And the sake of my soul.
Humble Savior,
your words were clear:
“I give you a new commandment,
that you love one another,
just as I have loved you.”
You have loved me unfailingly, unceasingly,
and I have rejoiced in that love.
But I have not poured out on others
the love you have lavished on me.
Forgive me.
Assurance of Pardon
Cover me with your mercy,
and lead me once again in your ways.
Beloved of God, hear this good news:
even in our sin,
Christ went to conquer death on our behalf
and Christ redeems us still.
Even now, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!

*Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Great Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Blessed are you, O Lord our God...
...Therefore we praise you, joining the song
of the universal church and the heavenly choir:
Sanctus Holy, Holy, Holy Lord
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior:...
...Remembering your goodness and grace,
we offer ourselves to you with gratitude
as we share this joyful feast.
Memorial Acclamation
All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us …
...Through the Lord Jesus Christ,
in the unity of the Spirit,
we bless you, God of glory,
now and forever. Amen
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever. Amen.
Breaking the Bread
Communion of the People
Prayer after Communion
We give you thanks, Holy One,
for the body and blood of our Lord,
given with love for the world.
Send us out in your Spirit
to share the good news of salvation
